Did you know that our SEPNZ Immediate Care and Sports Trauma Management course can prepare you for any serious injuries that might occur? We are all aware that first aid is extremely important for our role as a physiotherapist, and even more so when we stand on a sporting sideline?
This is a course for physiotherapists who work on the side line of sports games or events who want to up skill and learn about more advanced emergency and life-saving skills. This course is appropriate for Physiotherapists working at any level of sport and will provide you with the skills to assess and manage emergency situations on the side line or at sports events. It is also a useful update course for those already trained in sports trauma management.
The course is presented by Dr Rob Everitt (BHB MBChB FACEM) Emergency Medicine Specialist, Intensive Care Consultant, NZRC (NZ Resuscitation Council) Trainer, Honorary Senior Lecturer, Resuscitation Doctor NZRU/ARU.
The course will consist of a mixture of lectures, video, interactive and hands on practical sessions and will cover the following topics:
Emergency life support of the collapsed victim including:
- Rapid primary survey
- Best practice management of cardiac arrest
- Airway assessment and support
Assessment and Stabilisation of the following serious injuries:
- Cervical spine injury
- Head injury
- Long bone fractures including neurovascular compromise
- Facial injury
- Internal injuries
- Eye injuries
- Common Dislocations
- Haemorrhage
Emergent transport/transfer and communication with other healthcare provider.
